Charlie Palmer, Honorable Mention

Jaden Cheloha, Honorable Mention

The selection criteria included the two top ranked students from each school and three others based on GPA, academic awards, ACT score, and extracurricular activities. The selection committee went through more than 656 applications before making their all-metro teams and honorable mentions. Gaining this recognition for all their dedication and accomplishments is a testament to the work they have put forward throughout their high school journeys.

Yale earned the highest honor of All-Metro First Team and is proud to see all his hard work pay off. He stated how this award is important for his own resume, but also “It’s good to represent my classmates, my school, my teachers… I’ve had a lot of support here since my freshman year,” Yale said. He also highlighted the Central writing style, which helped him develop his essay writing for a number of assignments and college applications. Teachers have played an integral role in Yale’s academic successes, “[Dianee] Allen, [Jon] Flanagan, [Jen] Stastny and Dr. [Sharon] Elliot have given fantastic support,” Yale said.

Garapati earned All- Metro Second Team selection and feels honored to have gotten it and be a representative for her school and Omaha Public Schools in general. “There weren’t that many OPS students represented this year and I’d like that to change in the future, but it feels good to be one of the OPS students this year,” Garapati said. As the senior eagles prepare to leave the nest, this award symbolizes the cumulative work that they have all put in during their time at Central.
