The Grammy’s recently took place and sent Sam Smith home with countless Grammy awards and consisted of countless memorable musical performances.

Lady Gaga made an appearance as well as the one and only Annie Lennox.

However, there were some upsets, and one in particular has caused a bit of a controversy; controversy that I believe to be pointless but foolish on the singers part.

Beck won a Grammy for best album, and as he was going up to accept his award, Kanye West went up on stage acting as if he would take the microphone before soon returning to his seat.

Beyoncé was up for this award, and it is obvious that West did not believe that Beck was worthy for this award and rather that Beyoncé deserved it.

This was all too familiar to a similar situation at the VMA’s.

This is not anything new. What happened at the Grammy’s happened once before when Taylor Swift was accepting an award, and West interrupted saying Beyoncé was more deserving. However, the difference is that with Swift, West was not interrupting her acceptance speech in a jokingly manner.

Even though this was a mere joke, and the camera showed Kim Kardashian West laughing as well as a few other audience members, for some it was not taken as a joke, but rather a disrespectful act of ignorance.

In my opinion, I do not think this is as big of a deal as some people are making it. It would have been different if West had actually gone on stage and took the microphone like he did with Swift.

It was obvious that he did this jokingly and Beck did not take offense to it, so there was no harm in it.

However, I do not believe this was necessary and was not that funny. West did take away from Beck’s moment.

This artist is not that well known, and for him with his career, this was a big mild-stone for him. West interrupted this and instead focused attention on him.

Kanye, having won countless Grammy’s, should have realized this special moment for Beck and should have respected that. Even though he did not mean any harm, it was not the sensible thing to do.

All in all, what West did was not worth people’s criticism, but it certainly was uncalled for.

Maybe it is just in his blood to do something that will have him be the talk of many. After all, he did marry into the Kardashian family and they have certainly been in the headlines recently with Bruce Jenner’s decision to become a woman.

Whatever the reason, West should think before he carries out his actions. He should have remembered the uproar this caused the first time, and what he could have predicted to happen this time. Yes, this ultimately caused no harm, but in doing it, it does not make him look any better of a person.

If he wants to be a role model for his daughter of even kids looking up to him, he should think twice before he acts half his age.
