The Moon Landing: Real or Scripted

December 17, 2018

When something as astounding as a man landing on the moon occurs, there are bound to be people who are not convinced. Modern examples of this is the wide spread belief that tragic events such as school shootings, bombings, and even 9/11 did not occur, and the people in photographs or being interviewed are actually crisis actors. However, there are no conspiracies as well talked about as the moon landing being fake. While most people laugh this theory off, saying it has no tie to reality, there are many people who truly believe the moon landings did not occur.

Before getting into the facts, or coincidences, surrounding the theory, it is important to understand what was happening when the moon landing supposedly occurred. The United States is in the Cold War against the USSR, and the USSR just ‘successfully’ launched a person into orbit around the Earth. This is considered a major defeat for the US, and President John Kennedy promises that within eight years a person will land on the moon. The eight years roll around, and even though the USSR was successful in orbiting a person around the Earth, they still have not landed on the moon. Yet, the United States sends astronauts to land on the moon in these eight years, winning the space race, a major victory in the Cold War. Not landing on the moon in eight years, would have been another defeat, and sets a perfect motive for the government to lie about the space landing. If projecting that the landing was accomplished, even if it was not, the victory for the US would be just as strong.

Now we get to some of the actual evidence. The first thing I ever heard about the moon landing that made me question its legitimacy, was about the boots and boot prints on the moon. From what I have read, the boot prints in pictures from the landing, do not match the prints on the actual astronaut boots. Now, this could easily be dismissed as poor imaging systems, or even false information, but more evidence slowly starts to appear. The flag waving on the moon, should not have been able to do that without the existence of wind, and there should not have been boot prints due to the lack of gravity in the atmosphere.

Most of this can easily be written off as random, but there is more coincidental evidence. Two years before Kennedy’s deadline for the first moon landing, the United States attempted to send a space ship, that caught on fire, killing the three astronauts on board. NASA quickly stated they fixed the problem, but many believe it was never fixed, and NASA instead decided to fake the landing. Years later, in 2004, President George Bush, said a moon landing would be achieved again in 16 years. If the technology existed, this should have been much faster than the original eight years. This was never accomplished as President Barack Obama canceled the space mission, justifying many people’s doubts that space travel was possible.

While all of this evidence exists, there is still a lot in support for the moon landing. If it had been faked, thousands of people would have needed to stay quiet and not tell anyone. This seems unlikely, as secrets are normally hard to keep with only one or two people, let alone thousands. Additionally, most of the evidence can be written off as coincidences, even if there are many them. There is not currently enough evidence to say the moon landing was faked. Personally, I am neutral on this theory. I believe most likely the moon landing occurred, however, I would not be shocked or even surprised to discover it was a hoax. There is just enough information to lead to questioning, but not quite enough to make the theory believable.
