Spring is the perfect time to enjoy all nature has to offer, it isn’t too cold, nor too hot and it marks a new beginning for many of Earth’s living things. Here’s a list of the top 5 best spring activities in Omaha.

.) Lauritzen Gardens– Spring is the perfect time to visit Omaha’s blooming botanical gardens. Come take a walk among the trees and stop to smell the roses. It’s the perfect spring outing for any day especially on May 21st, when admission is free for all.

.) Henry Doorly Zoo- The Henry Doorly zoo is a wonderful place for outdoor family fun. With their new African safari enclosure, the sky safari and the petting zoo, you can’t go wrong. With Spring comes the seasonal Sting Ray petting encounter and the Zoo’s new artic splash pads to cool off.

.) Standing Bear Lake- Parks and Lakes are a wonderful and usually free excuse to get out of “Spring Cleaning”. Standing Bear lake’s scenic walking trail, clear lake and picnic pavilions will provide the perfect place for a romantic picnic, or just a fun day in the sun. Also as an extra bonus, you can bring your dogs along with you.

.) Fontenelle Forest- Embrace the natural beauty of spring as you hike through Fontenelle forest discovering animal tracks and if you’re lucky an animal themselves. Interactive and informative outing in a nature preservation sight, will make any spring day a delight

.) Cinco de Mayo- This year Cinco de Mayo falls on a Sunday, so the event actually is scheduled to take place the morning of the 4th. South Omaha streets exploding with color and Mexican culture everywhere you look. With delicious food carts, a festive parade, colorful souvenirs, and carnival rides, you simply can’t go wrong.
