Being sick and having to quarantine in my room, my family has been buying me takeout for most of my meals. Over these past couple of days I eaten from some very delicious restaurants, and wanted to share my favorite places I’ve eaten food from.

Greek Islands

One of my first meals during my quarantine was from Greek Islands located near 37th and Center St. I’ve been to Greek Islands multiple times, it never disappoints. Greek Islands has a large menu and many dishes to choose from that are very reasonably priced.

My personal favorite thing to get is the Gyro Platter. It’s served as a sandwich on Pita bread with fries on the side. It comes with olives, onions, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce and feta the gyro but I prefer mine plain. The portions are so big I always have leftovers.

Another dish I enjoy is the Greek Salad. Salads are one of my favorite meals, and the one at Greek Islands is delicious. It has tomato, peppers, olives and feta. If you’re looking for a healthier option this is the way to go.

Greek Islands is great both in restaurant and enjoyed in the comfort of your home. It’s one of my favorite local restaurants in Omaha, I would definitely recommend trying it out.

Amsterdam Falafel and Kabob

I have just recently began eating at Amsterdam and it has become one of my family’s go-to’s. It’s located in Dundee, so there’s plenty of other activities to enjoy after eating. Amsterdam’s food is reasonably priced, and they have a wide variety of options on their menu.

My favorite meal from Amsterdam is spicy falafel wrap. It’s delicious, and if you like spicier food I would recommend choosing this off the menu. In the falafel there is meat, chickpeas, pickled vegetables and your choice of sauce. They have unique items on their menu, so if you’re looking for something different to eat head to Amsterdam.

Another one of my favorites off Amsterdam’s menu is the curry fries. I have to get them every time I go, they are some of the best fries I’ve had. They’re unique because of the seasoning and I feel like everyone should try at least once. They also have feta fries if curry isn’t your thing.

I’ve gotten takeout from Amsterdam multiple times and have always had a positive experience with them. They just recently started delivering food, so if you’re trying to be more safe about your interactions you have the option to stay home.

Modern Love

Modern Love has become my sister and I’s favorite restaurant. Located in Midtown Crossings some of are other favorite things to do together are nearby. Modern Love is a vegan restaurant, although I’m not vegan I enjoy eating there because of healthier options.

I just recently tried the Chickpea Parmesan Hero sandwich. On the sandwich is a chickpea cutlet, marinara, pesto, arugula, cashew mozzarella and some seasonings. I was skeptical about trying a faux meat sandwich but I couldn’t even tell that it wasn’t actually meat. It was delicious and is probably my favorite thing on the menu right now.

My other go-to item on Modern Love’s menu is the Linguini Alfredo. On the pasta is garlic Alfredo sauce, cashew mozzarella, pesto, arugula and pepita parmesan. If this is your first time at Modern Love I would recommend this because there’s no meat substitution. It’s a safer move and it’s some of the best pasta I’ve had In Omaha and would recommend getting it.

Modern Love is only open for takeout so if you’re looking to support a local restaurant while staying safe Modern Love is a great option.
