Halloween is the best holiday of the year; From the spooky decorations, hanging out with friends, watching scary movies and trick or treating, of course. Who doesn’t love Halloween?  

Last Halloween my friends and I went trick-or- treating and had the time of our lives, even though we were sophomores. We went house to house getting all kinds of candies and ran around the neighborhood screaming and laughing all night long. I remember there was this guy in a bloody pig’s mask and he chased us around the neighborhood with a chainsaw. We were screaming the whole time, and by the time he finally stopped chasing us, we were crying and laughing. It’s memories like these that make Halloween the best holiday.  

Costumes are one of the many aspects that make Halloween the best holiday. When you dress up for Halloween you get to be a different person for one night, whether it be a superhero, a monster or even a bottle of ketchup. Halloween costumes promote creativity. If you can think of it, you can be it. And who doesn’t want to be a superhero for the night? 

Another huge aspect of Halloween is the scary decorations and haunted houses. Haunted houses and decorating are great ways to make memories with your family and friends. One year, my whole block was decked out in Halloween decorations. It is like decorating for Christmas, but even more enjoyable.  

Popular opinion is that Christmas is the best holiday, but Halloween is better. Christmas is a fun, family-friendly holiday, but Halloween is for both family and friends. We also wear different things on Christmas; some families do matching pajamas. But Halloween is way more fun because you get to dress up as whatever you want. Those are some reasons Halloween is better than Christmas.  

Halloween has many amazing qualities that make it the best holiday year-round.
