Senior Sunrise was on Aug. 13 in Legacy Plaza outside the east entrance.
Seniors arrived around 6 a.m. and left around 7 a.m. In preparation for this event, student officers met at the end of their junior year to figure out what their roles and responsibilities were. They met again in mid-July to finalize the time and date for Senior Sunrise.
Class of 2026 Historian Victoria Cayetano went over what was discussed during the senior officer meeting in July, “We discussed the dates, what we wanted to bring to the event.” Cayetano provided a Senior Sunrise photo frame that was created by her and class of 2026 Secretary Ximena Altuzar for the event. Class of 2026 Event Coordinator Tessa Fershee also provided donuts.
“I felt like Senior Sunrise went amazing this year. It was super fun being able to hang out and watch the sunrise with my friends and take pictures,” Cayetano said. She looks forward to all the other senior events the student officers are planning for this year.
Senior Laya Dorsey also attended the event. Dorsey’s favorite part of the event was being able to watch the sunrise. However, the donuts were a close second, specifically the glazed ones. “I enjoyed Senior Sunrise very much. It was a great way to start off the year by hanging out with my friends and looking at the beautiful view,” Dorsey said.
Senior Dayami Huitron also attended the event and found it pleasant. Huitron felt the event was a fun way to meet other seniors and make new friends. “I thought it was amazing to watch the sunrise on your last first day of school with all your other senior friends,” Huitron said.
Huitron’s favorite part was taking photos with all her friends. “We made so many memories at Senior Sunrise I’ll have for the rest of my life,” Huitron said.
