The South Korean indie band Wave to Earth came to Omaha on Aug. 6. It was the best concert I have attended, fully living up to expectations. I loved the concert because there were so many unforgettable moments throughout the concert and not one second being boring.
The band members include Kim Daniel, who plays guitar; Shin Dong Gyu, who plays the drum; and Cha Shoon-jong, who plays bass guitar. They went to Steelhouse Omaha for their 0.03 Tour, and they performed a total of 15 songs, the first song being “Are you bored?” which is only instrumental.
The 0.03 Tour includes around 30 different stops, and they recently announced that they are planning to bring artist Yung Kai on seven of the stops. They named the tour 0.03 for their album “Play with Earth 0.03”.
Their music is a mixture of indie, rock and sad songs. They have a wide range of music, so there is bound to be a song that people will enjoy. They have sad songs like “homesick” and “seasick” while also having fun upbeat music like “light” and “peach eyes”
They even brought Jeon-min, the session member who played the saxophone, and they made sure to thank him for helping with the tour.
I attended because I have been listening to Wave to Earth since 2019, so when they announced they were coming to Omaha I knew I had to attend. I bought a pit ticket and attended with my sister, who also loves their music. I have only been to a few concerts, but it is one that I am constantly remembering.
They knew how to bring up the spirits of those who attended by constantly jumping around the stage. Daniel constantly moved around the stage while playing the electric guitar, making sure every side of the venue got a good view of the members. Every member of the band put their all into the concert while thanking the people for coming, staff, and even their company.
One of the unforgettable moments is when confetti shot up in the air while the song “Annie” hit the main chorus. It was a nice golden color, fully lighting up the venue. Everyone’s emotions were high so when the-
lights went out and they left the stage; everyone went through the bittersweet feeling while chanting the words “one more song.” They ended up coming back out and performing three more songs.
There is even a time during one of the songs where people used the flashlight on their phone to wave a light around with the beat of the song. It showed how connected everyone who was there truly loved and supported the artist.
At the end of the concert the drummer Dong Gyu gave out his drumstick to someone in the crowd, showing how grateful he is to those who attended. By the end of the concert 70% of the merch was sold out and only two prints of shirts, pins, banners, and a coaster were in stock with not many sizes available.
Near the end of the concert, they mentioned that they were planning to come back next year. So, for those who couldn’t attend this past concert I would recommend looking out for the new upcoming tour.
