Now that the holiday season is in full swing, families will get together to celebrate the holidays. When everyone sits down for dinner, you may be wondering if your favorite pie might be served for dessert. And guess what? It is your favorite!
Central students and staff filled out a survey about what their favorite pie was and why.
According to the survey, pumpkin pie received the most votes, which received 23 out of 63 votes. Math teacher Jeffrey Wolford voted for pumpkin pie and said, “it is the best.” It was also well recognized as a holiday staple.
Coming in second are other pies which covers a range of pies like sweet potato to French silk pie, received 16 out of 63 votes. English teacher Molly Mattison voted for candy cane pie from Village Inn and said, “because it tastes like Christmas.” Other respondents cited the sweet taste, the ingredients, the sugar rush, the combination of flavors of their respective favorite pies
After that is apple pie, receiving 14 out of 63 votes. Secretary Wilson Diep voted for apple pie and said, “it goes so good with ice cream.” Other respondents cited that it’s best warm, it goes well with ice cream, the spices, it’s delicious, the holidays and family.
Second to last was a tie between cherry and peach cobbler pie, with both having four out of 63 votes. Tech Support Adam Lawton voted for peach cobbler pie and said, “it’s what I grew up with. Although it’s best served with fresh peaches and using an oatmeal crust and then served a la mode with vanilla ice cream or drizzled with cream.” Other respondents cited the first pie being sweet and tart and the second pie being delicious and fresh and for both, family and childhood memories
Last is pecan pie with two out of 63 votes. Spanish teacher Denise Forrest voted for pecan pie and said, “I love the crispy layer of pecans and it’s delicious/available anytime of the year.” Both respondents cited the pie having a sweet taste and the pecans itself.
