Christmas break lasted two weeks, from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2. This gave students two weeks of free time to spend time with their family and friends, catch up on sleep or whatever else they wanted.
Senior Dayami Huitron traveled a lot during her two weeks of break. “I went to Las Vegas, and I lived my best life out there. I got to hang out with my cousins and spend time with them, which was nice because I don’t get to see them often,” Huitron said.
To keep busy while there, Huitron and her cousins would do a variety of activities like movie nights, late night food and store runs, escape rooms and driving around the city at night. Huitron’s most memorable moment from the trip is when her dad accidentally took the wrong exit and took the family through Wyoming instead of Colorado.
“The drive was really nice because of all the scenic views, I enjoyed the mountains the most,” Huitron said. Fortunately for the family, the route through Wyoming turned out to be faster than the one through Colorado.
For junior Keaton Carver, his break was more relaxed. Carver spent the majority of his free time hanging out with his friends.
“I would describe my winter break as fun. It was a good break from school, and I enjoyed the little bit of snow we had,” Carver said.
Carver’s most memorable memory from break is when he and his friends went to a trampoline park. “I tried to do a trick, and I ended up tearing my pants,” Carver said. He was teased for the rest of the night.
Carver also got to see previous Central graduates during his break, which he also enjoyed.
Towards the end of the two-week break, a part of him looked forward to coming back to school to see all of his friends. Another thing Carver looked forward to at school was singing in the choir.
Additionally, senior Jaiden Harvey also had a laidback break. “My winter break was very relaxing. I was able to see a lot of my family, which I’m thankful for because not everyone gets to experience that,” Harvey said.
Harvey spent most of her time reading, watching TV and spending time with her family. Her favorite movie she watched was “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
Harvey’s also went wedding dress shopping with her sister. “Each time she tried a dress on, me, my stepmom and her soon to be mother-in-law all started to cry. She looked absolutely stunning in it and I can’t wait for her big day,” Harvey said.
