Freshman Anna Dickerson and Coach Brent Larson were excited for the bowling team this 25-26 season.
While this was only Dickerson’s first-time bowling, she was able to get a feel for how the team is by playing on varsity and having a score of 167 points, her highest score of the season. “Younger students like Anna have really stepped up this year on the team,” Larson said. With seniors leaving Central every year, the underclassman must step up on the team.
One of the more challenging parts of this season was the fact that Central did not win as many games as last season. “The most challenging part was that they didn’t get to see the results as a team,” Larson said.
Even though the team may have not won as many games, they were able to grow and get closer to each other and make friendships with students in different grades. Dickerson mentioned that most of the teams were upper class students, but they have all helped make the team a better environment.
Dickerson said, “Bowling is a really fun activity to do outside of school and something different for me to try.”
With her being a freshman, she was just thinking it would be something to keep her busy, but she has grown to love the sport. Dickerson hopes to beat her score by the end of the season.
A goal that Larson had for his players is to medal or to have a state qualifier. Another thing Larson would like is for next season’s players to step on up for the varsity team.
“I would love for those who are on the JV team right now to step up and play on Varsity for next year,” Larson said.
