Junior Griselda Lopez-Lopez, freshman Kiera Webb-Dunn and sophomore Mary Jones have excelled this season. All combined have brought in 321.5 team points this season. Lopez-Lopez and Webb-Dunn lead the team in wins with 16 each. Webb-Dunn and Jones both lead the team in falls with 17 each. Lopez-Lopez also qualified for state last year and made it to the quarterfinals.
“I would contribute my hard work and effort that I put into training to become a good wrestler,” Lopez-Lopez said.
Webb-Dunn believes their key to victory is dedication.
“Not wanting to lose, if I’m being honest. I just practice hard and just like the will to want to win,” Webb-Dunn said.
All three are looking to finish their season with a bright mark, making it to the state tournament. In order to achieve that goal, the trio has been showing up to practice extra hard.
“You know, once again, showing up to practice, you know, working hard. Showing up to practice is like definitely the main goal is working hard,” Jones said.
Likewise, Lopez-Lopez said, “listening to my coaches and then going over video footage from past matches and working on little things that win big matches,” as another contribution to her success.
