Singer and songwriter Charlie Puth started Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 by singing the national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Puth is a pop singer well-known for having a perfect pitch and the ability to hit many different high notes confidently. His top song “Attention,” released in 2017 proved how strong a vocalist he is.
Throughout the song he would constantly add riffs, making it truly unique. He would confidently go from full-chest high notes into falsetto, giving it a heartwarming feeling. He wasn’t only singing the song, he was expressing the story behind the song.
Many like me would listen to Puth constantly throughout the late 2010s and finally seeing him back in the spotlight is truly amazing. I found out he would be the one singing the national anthem the day of the Super Bowl, and let’s just say my expectations were met.
The song did so well that he added his version to both Spotify and Apple Music, letting others stream his version. Before the Super Bowl, he pre-released three new songs off his first full album since “CHARLIE” four years ago, which helped bring more attention to his music.
Singing at the Super Bowl boosted his career because many know his name but don’t listen to his music anymore. So, taking this opportunity to put his name back out there truly helped his new album “Whatever’s Clever!” become more anticipated. The songs that got pre-released from his new album are “Changes,” “Beat Yourself up” and “Cry,” which features Kenny G. The full album will be released on March 6.
Shortly after he announced the “Whatever’s Clever! World Tour,” which will last from April 22 to July 30 and have 48 different concert dates. Some dates close to Omaha are Kansas City, Missouri on May 13 and Rosemon, Illinois on May 15.
