Central High School’s Pep Band performed at home basketball games and brought the energy, hype and school spirit to the crowd.
Miriam Brown said Pep Band was a terrific way to bond with her fellow bandmates and get more practice with her instrument. She said her favorite thing at basketball games is playing the fight song. “It’s fun to play and helps the crowd get hyped,” Brown said.
The band teachers are also especially important to Pep Band. They help keep things organized and make sure the songs are fun to play and bring good energy to every game.
Band teacher Jeff Mount said in an email that there are amazing students and experiences involved. He said his favorite part of pep band was “The energy the band members bring to games.”
He also said the main goals of pep band saying his goals was to “promote sportsmanship, show up to the games you signed up for and have fun.”
Mount said the band has had important experiences contributes to the school community and in showing students a Central that “pep band is cool at CHS.”
“We have had fans from opposing schools (and a referee) give us compliments on our performance,” he said.
Overall, Mount had great goals for his students and has had many enjoyable experiences with pep band students and enjoys taking part in the school community.
