The weather in Omaha has been frosty and bitter continuously for what has felt like forever. Recently, however, we have had some warmer days, which are well-timed for spring! Due to spring arriving here are some enjoyable activities to get out and enjoy the warmth.
Here are seven fun activities perfect for spring in Omaha:
- Visit the Zoo
The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is known as the one of the world’s best zoos for having the largest indoor desert and largest indoor rainforest. There is also the coolest butterfly exhibit that one can walk through.
2. Visit wildlife safari park
The Wildlife Safari park is a four-mile drive through North American wildlife experience in Ashland, Nebraska, and there are some places to stop and hike but most of the park you drive through slowly and look at the wildlife.
3. Have a picnic
Spring is the perfect weather to have a meal outside, not too cold, or too hot. Grab a blanket or tarp to lay down on some grass or find a park table, take a seat, and enjoy some food. Invite some friends or family or enjoy the weather by yourself, read a book or listen to some music.
4. Visit a farmer’s market
Much like a craft show, farmer’s markets have homemade items such as food, crafts, drinks, and much more. These markets have great communities and the coolest different art and food types. This is a fantastic way to try new things and meet new people and find a new hobby or interest.
5. Plant a garden.
Planting a garden can be a very peaceful activity, especially during spring. Grab some seeds for fruits or flowers, grab a shovel and start digging and planting. Do not forget gloves. Water it and take care of it and within weeks or even days you will have your fruits or flowers to show your family and friends!
6. Go on a nature walk or bike ride!
Connect with nature by finding a public hiking trail and taking a walk through or even bike through, enjoying the slight breeze with the right amount of sun peeking through the trees. Look at the berries and flowers around you. Admire the sound of the birds and see the squirrels and enjoy the weather while we have it!
7. Gene Leahy mall
Located in the downtown area there are swings, a little water park, a playground, big slides https://omahaps-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/stobing380_ops_org/IQCQX0bZArloSIEEdfgfv_McAf4-_kkWsiWnf5Os99P9bWw?e=Db46pV and a huge stage in the middle of it all. So much to do there alone or with friends. There are food trucks that surround the park some days.
